Privacy Policy
Short version: we collect what we need to run the App, we never sell your data, and you can delete everything whenever you like.
1. Who is responsible for your data

2. What we collect
2.1 Account information
When you sign up, we collect an email address and, depending on your sign-in method, a name or an Apple-provided relay identifier. With Sign in with Apple, we only receive what you choose to share.
2.2 Content you create
Thoughts, journal entries, voice transcripts, sessions, memories, patterns, and similar data you create inside the App. This data belongs to you.
2.3 Usage and device data
App open events, anonymised feature usage, crash logs, approximate country, iOS version, and device model. We use this to improve the App and fix bugs.
2.4 Subscription data
When you purchase a subscription, Apple shares a receipt and an anonymised Apple ID with us so we can grant or revoke your Plus entitlement. We don't see your full payment card or your Apple account email.
3. What we do not collect
- We don't collect your precise location.
- We don't read your contacts, photos, or other apps.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't run third-party advertising networks inside the App.
4. How we use your data
- To provide the core features of the App (sessions, journal, pattern map, memory).
- To respond to you when you contact support.
- To keep the App secure and free of abuse.
- To understand how features are used (aggregated analytics only).
- To comply with legal obligations.
5. AI processing
Some features send the content of your session or thought to trusted AI providers (for example, to generate a calm, thoughtful reply). These providers process the data on our behalf under strict confidentiality terms and do not use it to train public models. We minimise what we send and strip identifiers wherever possible.
6. Sharing
We share data only with service providers that help us run the App — for example, cloud hosting, crash-reporting, analytics, and AI inference. Each provider is contractually required to protect your data. We never sell your personal information.
We may disclose data if legally required (for example, a valid court order) or to protect people from imminent harm.
7. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Data retention
We keep your content while your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase your content within 30 days, except where we're required to retain specific records for legal or accounting purposes.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

10. Security
We encrypt data in transit with TLS and at rest with industry-standard encryption. Access to production systems is limited to a small set of authorised engineers and audited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take our custody of your thoughts seriously.
11. Children
ClearSpiral is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated in-app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
